Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour yogurt (or Greek yogurt)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing warm water and sugar with yeast in a small bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes until bubbly.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and yogurt. Stir to combine, then knead for about 8 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Once risen, punch down the dough, divide it into equal portions, and roll each into an oval shape about half an inch thick.
  5. Preheat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each piece of dough until bubbles form on top (about 2 minutes), then flip to cook until golden brown.
  6. Brush hot naan with melted butter before serving.
