Ingredients

Mocktail Base

  • ½ cup Dried Hibiscus Flowers Substitute with hibiscus tea bags if needed
  • 2 units Citrus (Lemon/Lime/Orange) Fresh juice is best
  • handful Fresh Mint Optional but enhances flavor

Sweetening and Fizz

  • to taste Sweetener (Sugar, Stevia, etc.) Adjust sweetness to preference
  • 1 cup Sparkling Water or Lemon Soda Try flavored soda for a twist

Optional Add-Ins

  • to taste Fresh Fruit (Strawberries, Raspberries, Pineapple) Muddle with hibiscus for flavor
  • to taste Additional Herbs or Spices Try ginger or cinnamon for variation

Instructions

Mocktail Preparation

  • In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add ½ cup of dried hibiscus flowers and reduce heat, simmering for 10-15 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a heatproof jug, discarding the flowers. Allow it to cool completely.
  • Squeeze the juice from 2 lemons (or other citrus fruits) into the cooled hibiscus tea. Stir well to combine.
  • If using, muddle a handful of fresh mint leaves and some chopped fruits in each glass before adding the hibiscus mixture.
  • Fill the prepared glasses with ice, pour the hibiscus and citrus mixture over the ice, and top off with 1 cup of sparkling water or lemon soda.
  • Finish with an extra sprig of mint or slices of citrus on top for a beautiful presentation. Enjoy chilled!

Notes

For a twist, add a slice of ginger before mixing for a spicy hint. Store any leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days, and freeze the hibiscus mixture in ice cube trays for longer storage.
