Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 1 box Strawberry Cake Mix Feel free to swap with any flavored cake mix for a twist.
  • 8 tablespoons Butter Melted; margarine can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 large Egg Essential for binding; no substitute recommended.
  • 4 ounces Cream Cheese Softened; mascarpone can serve as an alternative.

For the Surprise

  • 30 Chocolate Hershey’s Kisses Unwrapped; other chocolate candies can be used.

For Rolling (Optional)

  • as needed Powdered Sugar or Pink Sugar For rolling dough balls and decorative touch.

Instructions

Making the Cookies

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the strawberry cake mix, melted butter, and egg until smooth.
  • Add the softened cream cheese and mix until fully incorporated, creating a creamy, pink batter.
  • Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Scoop the chilled dough into tablespoon-sized balls and roll them in powdered sugar.
  • Place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake the cookies for 8–10 minutes until edges are set but centers still appear soft.
  • Once removed from the oven, let them rest for 1–2 minutes and then gently press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie.
  • Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Dust with additional powdered sugar for a pretty presentation, if desired.

Notes

For best results, chill the dough to prevent spreading. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
